Eva Turenchalk, AICP is a certified planner and LEED® Accredited Professional.  Working as a Land Use Planner in the Santa Barbara area and for clients throughout California for more than twelve years, Ms. Turenchalk has extensive experience in planning and project management.

Prior to starting her own firm, Ms. Turenchalk worked locally in both the public and private sectors, including working for the County of Santa Barbara Planning Department, working as the Director of Public Policy for a local non-profit, and working as a planner for both a local land use firm and a local law firm. Ms. Turenchalk has experience working in all facets of land use, including due diligence, policy analysis, project design and management, environmental review, entitlements, condition compliance and construction management. Ms. Turenchalk has also served as an expert witness on several land use matters.

Ms. Turenchalk has a clear understanding of Santa Barbara's complex land use policies and entitlement process, and since starting Turenchalk Planning Services in 2008, has been using her experience to assist clients with the design, entitlement and implementation of sustainable projects and restoration projects.

Ms. Turenchalk has been working with South Coast Habitat Restoration since Spring 2008 to coordinate with property owners and finalize the permits necessary to remove stream barriers along Carpinteria Creek in an effort to restore full mobility to endangered steelhead trout. Ms. Turenchalk has also been working with Coastal Ranches Conservancy, a non-profit organization, through a grant from the Bower Foundation, as well as the Cachuma Resource Conservation District, to create a streamlined process that would reduce the complexity of the permit requirements for voluntary restoration projects in Santa Barbara County and throughout the State.

Current and recent projects include removal of five barriers to steelhead migration in Carpinteria, a barrier removal project on the Gaviota Coast, an office condominium project which will be the first LEED® Certified office building in the City of Santa Barbara, and two homes that were among the first LEED® Certified homes in the County.
